{"id":975,"date":"2012-06-11T12:51:11","date_gmt":"2012-06-11T10:51:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hen.co.za\/blog\/?p=975"},"modified":"2012-06-12T14:35:57","modified_gmt":"2012-06-12T12:35:57","slug":"rumours-of-desktop-development-death-greatly-exaggerated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hen.co.za\/blog\/2012\/06\/rumours-of-desktop-development-death-greatly-exaggerated\/","title":{"rendered":"Rumours of desktop development death greatly exaggerated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ok, Microsoft has restored some faith from my side in them &#8211; after announcing that the new Visual Studio 11 (now called VS 2012) would NOT support any desktop development anymore.<\/p>\n<p>They eventually changed their minds due to a lot of pressure and decided to release a desktop specific version as well &#8211; see <a title=\"Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows Desktop\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/b\/visualstudio\/archive\/2012\/06\/08\/visual-studio-express-2012-for-windows-desktop.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">this<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A quote from the article:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>With this new Express edition, developers will be able to use C++, C#, or Visual Basic to create Windows desktop and console applications.
