The problem is that there are actually all these built-in tools and utilities but finding them sometimes require you to search or discover them by accident. The tool I created simply provides an easy way to get to a lot of them. Even in Windows 7 not everything is located in one place &#8211; especially the more &#8216;advanced&#8217;, older or legacy tools &#8211; e.g. ODBC settings. Additionally I added something simple to simply &#8216;list&#8217; the installed .Net versions as well.<\/p>\n<p>A quick summary of what it contains:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>System<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Control panel<br \/>\nManage computer<br \/>\nSystem config<br \/>\nRegistry editor<br \/>\nPerformance monitor<br \/>\nScheduled tasks<br \/>\nLocale<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"line-height: 18px;\">Regional settings<br \/>\n<\/span>Date and time<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">.Net<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">List versions<br \/>\nDisable Explorer GAC view<\/p>\n<p>Hardware<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Device manager<br \/>\nInstall hardware<br \/>\nRemove hardware<br \/>\nPower options<br \/>\nDisk management<br \/>\nRemovable storage<br \/>\nSettings<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">Keyboard<br \/>\nMouse<br \/>\nDisplay<br \/>\nSound<br \/>\nPrinter<\/p>\n<p>Software<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Add &amp; remove programs<br \/>\nDefault programs<br \/>\nWindows components<\/p>\n<p>Services<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Services<br \/>\nIISAdmin<br \/>\nComponent services<br \/>\nODBC<\/p>\n<p>Security<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Security centre<br \/>\nFirewall settings<br \/>\nUser accounts<br \/>\nPolicy<br \/>\nLocal security settings<\/p>\n<p>Connections<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Network connections<br \/>\nCreate share<br \/>\nShared folders<br \/>\nMap network drive<br \/>\nDisconnect network drive<br \/>\nInternet options<\/p>\n<p>Looks<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Taskbar properties<br \/>\nFonts<br \/>\nFolder options<br \/>\nDisplay themes<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;ve now simple recompiled the utility and created a very simple installer for it (one for x86 and one for x64)<\/p>\n<p>x86 &#8211; <a title=\"WindowsCommandCentreSetup\" href=\"https:\/\/dl.dropbox.com\/u\/20983\/WindowsCommandCentreSetup.msi\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/dl.dropbox.com\/u\/20983\/WindowsCommandCentreSetup.msi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>x64 &#8211; <a title=\"WindowsCommandCentreSetupx64\" href=\"https:\/\/dl.dropbox.com\/u\/20983\/WindowsCommandCentreSetupx64.msi\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/dl.dropbox.com\/u\/20983\/WindowsCommandCentreSetupx64.msi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve tested it on Windows 7 and it use to work on Vista\/XP as well. Unfortunately I cannot\u00a0guarantee\u00a0that it will work properly on Windows 8 if at all.
